Latin Women Streoytypes

A quick google search of “latin ladies streoytypes” brings up images of scantily- clad oil colored, crow haired, red- lipped, curvaceous women. This fetishization of Latinas in the internet is n’t only embarrassing, but it also has serious implications. It exacerbates belittling and can lead to intolerance. It can even promote dating violence and enhance physical harassment of adolescent people.

The otherness and fetishizing of female systems turns them into simple items to be won and showcased. This is not to say that there are n’t some positive stereotypes of latina women, but the majority of portrayals in our mediascape leave out a whole community. This typecasting of latinas can reduce their ability by internalizing the image that society puts forth of them.

Moreover, these stereotypes can be hazardous to expat communities because they can power anti- immigrant views and reinforce the idea that Latinas do n’t belong in the workforce or contribute to the economy. It’s important to read Latina figures who are intelligent, driven, and productive. But it’s just as essential to create them with shortcomings, also.

Using a social determinants of health foundation, this analysis explores home planning perspectives and experiences among 16 Latinas recruited from two federally qualified medical centers in Baltimore City, Maryland.
