Search for any hotel on Google and you'll see a price panel listing Booking.com, MakeMyTrip and others. With free booking links, your own website can appear in that list too, with no cost per click. It's one of the easiest direct-booking wins for hotels.
How it works
Google takes room rates and availability from a connectivity partner, usually your booking engine, channel manager or PMS. Your official site then appears with its price next to the OTAs on Search and Maps. Clicks go straight to your booking engine.
What you need
- A verified Google Business Profile for the hotel
- A booking engine on your website that supports Google hotel integrations
- Rates and availability kept in sync. See hotel channel manager
- Accurate taxes and fees so the shown price matches checkout
Ask your booking engine provider if they offer "Google Hotel free booking links" or "Google Hotel Center" connectivity. Many do it for little or no extra fee.
Win the click
- Make your direct price equal to or better than the OTAs, within your contract terms
- Show a perk such as free breakfast
- Make sure the booking page loads fast on mobile and asks for few details
- Keep photos and reviews strong. See reply to guest reviews
Paid Hotel Ads
Google also runs paid hotel ads that appear more prominently. Start with free links, measure bookings, then decide. Budget basics: Google Ads starting budget.
Common problems
- Price mismatch because GST is shown differently than on the website
- Old rates because the sync stopped
- Business profile name not matching the hotel name in the booking engine
FAQs
Does it work without a booking engine?
No. A WhatsApp-only website can't send live rates. You need a booking engine or channel manager that connects to Google.
Is it really free?
The listing and clicks are free. Your provider may charge for the connection.
