Google Ads can fill your taxi bookings the same day — or burn your budget on people looking for driver jobs, Uber login help or bus timings. The difference is in the setup. Below is the structure we use for taxi and cab operators in Punjab and North India.
Campaign structure: one ad group per route
Create a Search campaign, and inside it one ad group per important route, each pointing to its own landing page:
- Ad group "Ludhiana–Delhi Airport" → /ludhiana-to-delhi-airport-taxi
- Ad group "Ludhiana–Chandigarh" → /ludhiana-to-chandigarh-taxi
- Ad group "Local taxi Ludhiana" → homepage or local taxi page
Separate route groups let you see which routes are profitable and write ads that mention the exact route and fare.
Keyword examples (phrase and exact match)
| Intent | Examples |
|---|---|
| Route | "ludhiana to delhi taxi", "ludhiana to delhi airport cab", [taxi from ludhiana to delhi airport] |
| One way | "one way taxi ludhiana", "one way cab punjab to delhi" |
| Vehicle | "innova on rent ludhiana", "tempo traveller hire ludhiana" |
| Local | "taxi service ludhiana", "cab service near me" |
Avoid broad match at the start; it often matches unrelated searches. Add broad match later only with good conversion tracking.
Negative keyword list (start with these)
Add these as campaign-level negatives:
- Jobs: job, jobs, vacancy, driver required, salary, hiring, recruitment
- Apps: ola, uber, rapido, app, download, login, customer care
- Other transport: bus, train, volvo, flight, ticket, timetable
- Not your service: self drive, bike rental, second hand, olx, car loan, insurance
- Information only: distance, km, map, route map, how far (unless your page answers them and you want those clicks)
Every week, open the Search terms report and add new irrelevant terms.
Settings that matter
- Location: target the cities you pick up from, and choose "People in or regularly in your targeted locations" — this avoids clicks from people elsewhere just reading about the city.
- Ad schedule: airport bookings often come late night and early morning. Keep ads running when someone can answer the phone.
- Call assets / call ads: many taxi customers want to call immediately.
- Sitelinks: Airport Taxi, One Way Taxi, Tempo Traveller, Fare List.
- Networks: turn off Display Network for search campaigns.
Write ads that pre-qualify
Mention route, starting fare and trust points: "Ludhiana to Delhi Airport Taxi — Sedan from ₹X | 24×7 | Toll Included | 4.8★ Rated". Showing a price discourages people who are only looking for the cheapest bus option.
Track real bookings
Track calls from ads, calls from the website, WhatsApp button clicks and form submissions as conversions. Without tracking, Google's bidding cannot learn and you cannot tell which route makes money. Our conversion tracking guide explains the setup.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much budget does a taxi Google Ads campaign need?
Many small operators start with ₹500–₹1,500 per day on 2–3 profitable routes, then increase spend on routes with the lowest cost per confirmed booking.
Why am I getting calls from drivers looking for jobs?
You are matching job searches. Add job-related negative keywords and avoid broad match.
Should I advertise for "near me" keywords?
Yes for local taxi, but limit location targeting tightly to where you can actually pick up quickly.
