When someone searches "taxi service near me" or "cab in Khanna", Google shows three map results first. For many taxi operators those three spots bring more calls than everything else combined. Google is also strict with taxi listings, because the category has a lot of spam. Here's how to get it right.

Set it up as a service-area business

If customers do not visit your office, Google's guidelines say you should hide your address and set a service area (the cities or districts you cover). If you have a real staffed office or taxi stand where customers can come, you can show the address. Don't use a fake address, virtual office or a relative's house you don't operate from — this is the most common reason taxi listings get suspended.

Name and category

  • Use your real business name exactly as on your signboard, documents and website. Adding keywords ("Best Cheap Taxi Ludhiana Delhi Airport") breaks the guidelines and invites suspension.
  • Primary category: Taxi service. Add secondary categories only if true: "Car rental agency", "Tour operator", "Airport shuttle service".

Complete every section

  • Phone: a number answered 24×7 if you offer night pickups.
  • Website: link to your homepage or main booking page.
  • Hours: mark 24 hours only if you truly answer calls at night.
  • Services: one way taxi, airport transfer, outstation, local, tempo traveller — each with a short description.
  • Description: 2–3 lines on what you do, where you serve and since when.

Photos that build trust

Upload real photos of your cars (outside and inside), drivers, office or stand, and trips (Golden Temple drop, hill routes). Add new photos every month. Stock images and photos with large text overlays perform poorly.

Reviews: the ranking and trust engine

Send your review link on WhatsApp after every completed trip. Ask customers to mention the route: "Ludhiana to Delhi airport, on time at 3 am." Reply to every review, and handle complaints politely and publicly. Never buy reviews or review yourself — Google removes fake reviews and may restrict the profile.

Posts and updates

Post weekly: a new car added, festival rush advice, a route photo, a fog-season tip for airport trips. Activity signals that the business is alive.

If your listing gets suspended

  1. Don't create a new listing — that makes it worse.
  2. Fix any guideline issues (name, address, categories).
  3. Gather proof: business registration, GST certificate if any, vehicle RC in business name, photos of signboard/office, utility bill.
  4. Submit the reinstatement request from the profile and answer the verification steps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have one listing per city I serve?

Only if you have a real, staffed location in each city. Otherwise use one listing with a service area covering those cities.

Why don't I show up for "taxi near me"?

Proximity matters a lot for "near me" searches. Strengthen relevance and prominence with complete details, reviews and a strong website, and you'll appear more often across your area.

Do I need a website for my Google listing?

It's not required, but a good website improves ranking signals and conversion — many customers check it before booking.
