Customers judge a business in seconds — from its logo, website, vehicle stickers, visiting card and WhatsApp profile picture. A consistent, simple brand makes even a small business look established and trustworthy. You don't need a big budget, but you do need a few basics done properly.

1. A clear name

Easy to say, spell and remember; available as a domain and social handle; not too similar to competitors. Check trademark availability before investing heavily.

2. Logo in the right versions

  • Primary logo (full name + symbol).
  • Square/icon version for WhatsApp, Instagram and favicon.
  • Light and dark versions for different backgrounds.
  • Files: SVG/AI/PDF (vector) for printing and signage; PNG/WebP for web.

Simple logos work best — they must be readable on a phone screen and on a car sticker.

3. Brand colours

Choose 1–2 main colours and 1–2 supporting colours, with exact codes (HEX for web, CMYK for print). Make sure text on your colours has good contrast.

4. Fonts

One font for headings and one for body text. Use web-friendly fonts (Google Fonts) and, if needed, fonts that support Gurmukhi or Devanagari.

5. Tone of voice

Decide how you speak: friendly and local, formal and premium, or simple and direct. Use it consistently in website text, social posts and WhatsApp replies.

6. Apply it everywhere

  • Website and favicon
  • Google Business Profile logo and cover photo
  • Social media profiles
  • Visiting cards, letterheads, invoices
  • Vehicle branding, uniforms, signage
  • WhatsApp Business profile

7. Write a one-page brand guide

Logo files, colour codes, fonts and a few do's and don'ts. Share it with printers, designers and staff so everything stays consistent.

Trademark basics

Registering your brand name and logo as a trademark in India protects you from copycats. You can file online with the trademark registry; a trademark attorney can help with searches and classes.
