If you own one or two commercial cars, you have three choices: attach your car with a travel agency, drive for aggregators like Ola and Uber, or build your own taxi brand. Each has a different balance of income, control and risk.
Option 1: Attach with a travel agency
How it works: the agency sends trips; you provide car and driver; they keep a commission or pay a fixed monthly amount.
Pros: steady work, no marketing effort, corporate and tour clients. Cons: lower margins, payment delays, little control over pricing, no customer relationship.
Check before signing: written agreement, rate per km/day, payment cycle, who pays tolls/parking, cancellation rules, damage responsibility, notice period.
Option 2: Aggregators (Ola, Uber, others)
Pros: immediate demand in cities, digital payments. Cons: commissions and incentives change, rating pressure, little loyalty, mostly local/short trips.
Option 3: Your own brand
Pros: highest margin per trip, repeat customers, brand value you can sell later, outstation and NRI work. Cons: you must market, answer calls 24×7, and handle complaints.
What it needs:
- A website with route pages. See taxi booking website features
- Google Business Profile and reviews. See get more Google reviews
- WhatsApp booking. See WhatsApp booking system
- Possibly Google Ads. See taxi Google Ads keywords
The smart hybrid
Many successful Punjab operators start with agency/aggregator work for steady income, and build their own brand in parallel. Every direct customer gets your card and WhatsApp number. Over 6–12 months, direct bookings take over. See local operator vs Ola/Uber.

FAQs
Can I work with an agency and take my own bookings?
Usually yes, unless the agreement forbids it. Never poach the agency's customers; build your own.
How many cars before starting my own brand?
Even one car can start with a Google profile and WhatsApp. A website helps once you have 2–3 cars or partner operators.
