Your homepage headline is the biggest text on the most-visited page of your site. If it says "Welcome to Our Website" or "Excellence in Service", you're wasting the most valuable space you have.
What a headline must do
In about 5 seconds, a visitor should know:
- What you offer
- Who it's for or where
- Why choose you
A simple formula
[Result or service] for [who/where] + [proof or difference]
Examples:
- Website design for Ludhiana businesses. Live in 5 days, with free SEO.
- One-way taxi Punjab to Delhi Airport. Fixed fares, 24×7, clean cars.
- Ayurvedic home remedies made in Punjab. Delivered across India in 3 days.
Use the sub-headline
The line below adds detail the headline can't hold: price starting point, service area, guarantee or social proof. "Trusted by 500+ businesses across Punjab · Starting ₹6,999".
Add one button
Pair the headline with one primary action: Get a Free Quote or Book on WhatsApp. See call-to-action buttons.
Mistakes to avoid
- Clever slogans that need explaining
- Company name as headline (the logo already says it)
- Rotating sliders with five headlines. Most visitors see only the first
- Jargon like "end-to-end 360° solutions"
Test it
Write 5 versions, then show each to a few customers or friends for 5 seconds and ask "What do we do?" Keep the one they understand fastest. If you run ads, test two versions on a landing page. See landing page tips.
Headline and SEO
Your H1 can include your main keyword naturally, but write for humans first. The title tag is a separate field. See title tags and meta descriptions.
FAQs
