Microcopy is the small text around actions: button labels, form hints, error messages and confirmations. It's easy to ignore, but it decides whether a visitor completes a booking form or gives up halfway.
Buttons: say what happens
| Weak | Better |
|---|---|
| Submit | Get my free quote |
| Click here | See room prices |
| Send | Book on WhatsApp |
| Next | Choose your car → |
Use first person ("my") or a clear action verb. See call-to-action buttons.
Form fields
- Label every field clearly. Don't rely on placeholder text that disappears
- Add hints where needed: "10-digit mobile number. We'll WhatsApp your quote"
- Mark optional fields as optional rather than starring every required field
- Ask only what you need now
Reassurance near the button
Small lines that remove doubt:
- "No advance needed to get a quote"
- "We never share your number"
- "Free cancellation up to 24 hours"
Error messages
Explain the problem and how to fix it, politely:
❌ "Invalid input"
✅ "Please enter a 10-digit mobile number, without +91 or 0"
Show errors next to the field, not only at the top of the page.
Confirmation messages
Tell people what happens next:
"Thanks, Raj! Your enquiry is received. We'll call or WhatsApp you within 30 minutes (8 AM–10 PM)."
Empty and "no results" states
On search pages: "No posts found for taxi permit. Try AITP or browse Taxi & Travel guides." Never just "No results".
Keep it consistent
Use the same words everywhere: "enquiry" or "inquiry", "book" or "reserve". See brand tone of voice.
Test it
Watch 3 people fill your form on their phones. Where they pause is where microcopy needs work. See landing page tips.
FAQs
Does microcopy help SEO?
Not directly. Its job is conversions: more of your existing visitors turning into enquiries.
